About

Welcome to 'Moors and Shores' the Website and gallery of landscape photographer Dean Regan
Hi,

I'm Dean Regan, a landscape photographer, based in the old Whaling port of Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast. It's from here that I satisfy my long standing passion for image creation of the countryside and coast.

I work from a studio high on the west cliff with sea views that constantly supply me with the inspiration to get out. For those who've never been to these parts I can say you're missing something very special. Whitby is one of only two towns on the east coast from which the sun can be viewed as it rises and sets over the sea from the same spot....that in itself doubles the opportunities for golden hour photography. whitby has two of most things, harbours, piers, lighthouses, railways - both steam and normal! Three beaches, one with 2 miles of unbroken sand, and another full of rock pools and fossils. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is a 20 minute walk away. The Esk Valley railway between whitby and Middlesbrough has been described as the most beautiful branch line in England, running as it does, through the national park.
